Aussie car manufacturers look for replacement suppliers

Indefinite halt at Autodom factories, which manufactures car components, have left Aussie car manufacturers struggling to look for replacement suppliers.

Holden, Toyota and Ford are angry that Autodom suspended its operations despite the companies offer to pay more for parts, the Australian reports.

This closedown may result in Holden, Ford and Toyota to halt manufacturing cars due to insufficient stock of car components.

Holden spokesman Craig Cheetham told the newspaper that Holden has adequate stock at its Elizabeth plant to last until next week.

He went on to say that "if there are no further developments then we will (grind to a halt)."

According to Ford Australia spokeswoman Sinead Phipps Ford only has sufficient components for the next two days in the coming week.

Toyota stated that it has adequate parts to continue manufacturing for a short term but is looking for alternative car component providers.

Autodom’s trading halt has affected as many as 400 workers.
