Aurora offshore contract criticised

The AMWU is concerned that a Launceston company has been overlooked by Aurora Energy to provide concrete power poles.

The ABC reports that state-owned Aurora, which would not comment on the tender process.

The contract was awarded to a New Zealand company, the day after Premier Lara Giddings announced a review of interstate and international government tenders.

"There is a company that's able to do that and prepared to put in new machinery to do that but unfortunately it's my understanding that they're not in the race anymore," said the AMWU’s John Short.
