Atlas Copco releases new energy efficient vacuum pumps

Atlas Copco Compressors Australia announces a new range of rotary screw
vacuum pumps featuring variable speed drive (VSD) to increase energy savings and
productivity for customers across diverse industries.

Representing a new innovation in vacuum technology, Atlas Copco’s GHS
350-900 VSD+ rotary screw vacuum pumps give users energy savings of around 50%
compared to traditional rotary vane pumps.

Atlas Copco’s GHS VSD+ Series is a range of new-generation highly
efficient, intelligent vacuum pumps with VSD based on the proven plug-and-play
design principles of Atlas Copco compressors. The new vacuum pumps have been
designed by vacuum engineers to deliver peak performance at operating pressures
commonly found in industrial applications.

The state-of-the-art VSD technology combines with an innovative inlet
control valve to increase efficiency and dramatically reduce lifecycle costs.
Offering significantly better performance against benchmarked oil-sealed and
dry vane vacuum pumps, GHS 350-900 VSD+ rotary screw vacuum pumps are quiet in operation
with the built-in efficiency contributing to sustainable productivity.

The vacuum pump conforms to energy management and environmental
commitments according to ISO 50001/14001. Ultra-high oil retention at all
operating pressures from ultimate pressure to atmospheric pressure reduces
environmental impact.

Key advantages of the GHS 350-900 VSD+ rotary screw vacuum pumps include small
footprint; low noise operation; energy recovery minimising hot air in the
workplace, avoiding the usual problem of hot air in air-conditioned production
environments; market-leading oil retention optimising quality of the exhausted
air and contributing to employee well-being; and ability to prevent oil spills
on the factory floor, leading to a significantly cleaner working environment.

The plug-and-play design of the GHS VSD+ Series rotary screw vacuum pumps assures
easy and fast installation that also saves time and space. Some of the new
features have been added in the vacuum pumps to provide extra efficiencies. For
instance, the newly designed vacuum specific element offers a significantly
longer lifetime than a screw compressor and vane pumps. The new patented inlet
control valve provides modulating vacuum control in conjunction with the VSD
drive to minimise energy consumption.

Atlas Copco’s GHS VSD+ series will be expanded with sizes up to 2,000 m³/hr
to be available by summer of 2015, and up to 4,500 m³/hr in early 2016.

The complete GHS VSD+ range is equipped with the Atlas Copco Elektronikon
monitoring system, a state-of-the art monitoring system for vacuum pumps, as
well as SMARTlink for remote monitoring.
