Visy strikers who were arrested on Monday for protests outside the company’s Dandenong factory have been granted bail by Victoria Police.
Police said the 29 strikers were arrested for besetting premises and undue obstructions outside the factory, located south-east of Melbourne.
All of the strikers have been granted bail and will attend Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 28 February – with the exception of one striker who will attend on 8 March.
An indefinite strike by Visy workers began on 3 December over an enterprise bargaining agreement.
Negotiation talks between senior Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) officials and Visy began yesterday morning. An AMWU spokesperson said the talks would be continuing today.
Visy could not be contacted.
