Acid leak at Cadbury Schweppes factory

Fifteen people were evacuated from the Cadbury Schweppes factory in Scores, Victoria last Friday afternoon following a nitric acid leak which caused a cloud of highly irritant vapour to be released into the atmosphere.

Workers from surrounding factories were then also evacuated by fire crews, while local residents were warned to stay indoors, and to close all windows and turn off air conditioning.

The acid leak was contained by late afternoon; however fire crews remained on the scene till about 10pm.
