A window into dust collection and control

AUSTRALIAN Dust Control was recently given the task to design, manufacture and install a reverse flow dust collector for Valley Windows in Morwell, Victoria.

Valley Windows, a well known manufacturer of timber windows, was looking to upgrade its existing dust collector system.

The system previously used had several individual bag units. The window manufacturer was looking at future proofing its business with expansion in mind, which made the individual bag system dust collector being used unsuitable.

Australian Dust Control installed a reverse flow chain filter dust collector for this purpose. The dust collector is a modular system to which new modules can be added as the business grows.

A sound enclosure was installed around the fan to ensure the quiet operation to meet the guidelines set down.

The chain filter on the collector, by design, allows for extra modules to be added to the system.

Valley Windows also chose to have a variable speed drive fitted, potentially reducing energy bills by 50%.

To handle the waste produced in the manufacture process, largely consisting of shavings and sanding dust, a briquette machine was installed.

The machine collects then converts the waste to briquettes at a ratio of 10 — 1 and the company believes that it will become a popular method for disposing of this type of waste in the future.
