A new standard for toys and childcare products

GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL Choice Australia (GECA) has recently announced the release of a new draft standard in the Australian Ecolabel Program for a period of public comment.

The new standard, Toys and Childcare Products, is designed to be applicable to a wide range of children’s toys, prams, cots and other childcare products.

Products certified under this Standard will be required to demonstrate environmentally preferable raw material sourcing, minimum recycled content and recyclability requirements, strict chemical additive and manufacturing safety, have a product stewardship offer to customers and much more.

The Standard is now available on the GECA Standards Register at www.geca.org.au/StandardsRegister.htm.

This Standard is being issued for a period of public comment, during which time feedback on any aspect of the standard and its environmental performance criteria is welcome.

Comments or submissions may be sent directly to standards@geca.org.au or:
