Steel manufacturer expands Queensland base

Steel building product manufacturer Metroll will move in to Bohle Industrial Estate, in Townsville.

Metroll supplies steel products to the building and construction sector, and has committed to manufacturing in the region.

According to Member for Townsville, Scott Stewart, the move to the Bohle Industrial Estate allows for an expansion of the company’s manufacturing capabilities.

“The company’s new manufacturing site in Bohle Industrial Estate will be three times the size of their current Townsville site,” said Stewart.

“The 10,970 m2 block will allow Metroll to expand their business, increase their workforce and provide greater services to our region.”

Metroll is now spread across sites from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast, in five Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) precincts. General Manager of Metroll, Ian Grambower, highlighted how these sites enabled the growth of his company.

“As one of the country’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of steel building products, we need to secure suitable industrial land to best serve Queenslanders and to allow our business to grow,” said Grambower.

The result of this is the burgeoning size of the company and its associated impact on the communities and places it works in, including Cairns, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, and the Sunshine Coast.

“Being able to secure industrial land at these locations across Queensland has ensured we can expand our market in key strategic areas and employ more local staff,” said Grambower.
