Ahrens’ extensive experience in upgrades and refurbishments was crucial in delivering a 3,000 sqm warehouse extension for Laminex within eight weeks.
Extensive experience in upgrading and expanding existing facilities, combined with excellent scheduling and planning was invaluable when it came to meeting the client’s expectations for this project.
Ahrens were able to successfully deliver a 3,000m2 warehouse extension for end-user, Laminex, within two months, while ensuring business as usual.
With a vertically-integrated structure and a complete range of project services, Ahrens were able to offer tight controls on cost, stock, and programming to provide quality work and value-for-money solutions across the project.
Repeat client, Cohen Group, one of South Australia’s most respected property management, investment and development companies, engaged Ahrens to complete expansion works for tenant, Laminex.
Laminex is Australia’s leading supplier of modern laminates, quality engineered stone, timber panelling, and more, and required an undercover area to increase their total product storage capacity.
Works for this included all structural steel, cladding, new LED lighting, and the extension of the existing crane rails for a five tonne crane used to lift heavy stone benchtops.
Ahrens also completed office modifications and a revamp of bathroom facilities as well as all necessary fire, electrical, and water services prior to completing the warehouse extension.
Ahrens’ steel division supplied more than 50 tonnes of structural steel for the project, manufactured in their Kingsford South Australia facility.
It was this competitive advantage of Ahrens being a “one-stop shop” to provide the design and construction, project management, structural steel and demolition works as required, that made them the trusted company for the job.
As this project involved extending an existing facility, there was a need to meet Building Code of Australia requirements and bring the facility up to standard, this included additional fire sprinklers and emergency lighting.
Ahrens’ extensive experience in working around existing operations and facilities though, meant they were able to navigate all necessary building code requirements and approvals whilst working within the tight schedule with ease.
The successful end result affirms Ahrens’ long-standing relationship with the Cohen Group and continues an excellent working partnership between the two South Australian companies.
Cohen Group Project/Asset Manager Richard Stabile said the Ahrens team’s professionalism was excellent in working to meet the given deadlines.
“It was an extremely tight timetable and the job was executed well,” said Stabile.
“The finished result met our expectations.”
The project also affirms Ahrens’ expertise in not only delivering complete design and construction projects from start to finish but their ability to deliver expansion and refurbishment works.
