Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key opened its second China office on Monday, July 15.
The office, in Shanghai, will support the company’s growth in the Chinese market and supports Digi-Key’s entire Chinese business.
“Our continued commitment to the China market has not wavered one bit. We are excited to announce our move to new offices in Shanghai. We take ’the long view’ with our strategic initiatives in the region and continue to invest in the future of the China market,” said Dave Doherty, president and COO of Digi-Key.
Digi-Key’s global headquarters are in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA, and the company has distribution networks across Australia, as well as internationally.
The company is the fifth largest electronics distributor globally. In total, the company employs over 4,000 people worldwide in 18 offices, and ships to 170 companies.
Digi-Key offers 8.7 million products, with 1.7 million products in stock, available for immediate shipping with arrival in as little as 72 hours.
In addition to its product range, Digi-Key has a number of online resources to enable their customers to effectively implement their products. These include the DK IoT Studio, EDA and design tools, datasheets, reference design, instructional articles and videos, multimedia libraries and more.
According to Doherty, the Digi-Key sites in China have been dealing with the ups and downs of the global market.
“Our teams in Shanghai and Hong Kong have experienced the highs of supporting crazy growth over the last two years. Now dealing with uneven market conditions in general has given us a chance to catch our breath and continue improving our local presence in the region,” said Doherty.
