Toyota Australia workers are striking again today over an on-going wage dispute, raising concern over the future of the automotive manufacturer.
A report from ABC.net.au says the company expects a loss of $10 million every day its workers strike — that’s $50 million so far.
More than 3,000 workers at the company’s Altona plant in Victoria and parts centres in Sydney and Melbourne are involved in the industrial action, which has the backing of the AMWU.
TheAge.com.au has reported that the situation has reached a point where suppliers are going to be seriously affected, and will probably be forced to sack 3,000 employees.
