Today we are pleased to announce the final line-up for the Factories of The Future event, to be held on May 28 at the Crown Casino, Melbourne.
We can confirm that Professor Milan Brandt, Research Director of RMIT University’s Advance Manufacturing Precinct, and Bruce Kendall, Skills Advisor with Australian Industry Group, have been added to the programme. (Please see the gentlemen’s bios below.)
Brandt, the event’s keynote speaker, and Kendall, its moderator, will join Russell Speight – Director, DLS Simulation & Technology for Autodesk, as presenters.
The Factories of The Future event offers a knowledge-sharing and networking environment – with expert, academic, government and sponsor insights – for the busy manufacturing executive.
Held during National Manufacturing Week in Melbourne, the event will examine some of the new technologies and techniques that are influencing productivity and the ways companies innovate.

Milan Brandt is the Professor of Advanced Manufacturing in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Research Director Advanced Manufacturing Precinct, RMIT University, and Director RMIT Centre for Additive Manufacturing.
The Advanced Manufacturing Precinct is the foremost local facility providing enabling solutions in additive manufacturing. Professor Brandt is the principal Australian researcher in the area of laser additive manufacturing. This has resulted in technological achievements, patents, research papers and commercial products, which have been recognized internationally and nationally in both scientific and industrial circles.
Professor Brandt is a fellow and board member of the Laser Institute of America and honorary fellow of the Welding Technology Institute of Australia.
Bruce Kendall is a Skills Advisor with Australian Industry Group funded by the Australian Government to deliver the $476m Industry Skills Fund, a key element in the Government’s Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda.
Bruce has a strong private sector manufacturing, merchandising and service industry background. As well as this, his Victorian Government economic development and dual-sector university education and training experience enables him to provide quality business advice to clients. He holds formal qualifications in a range of technical, commercial and education areas.
Kendall also has 40 years of experience in management, industry and commerce, import/export, education, training and technical roles in local and international markets. He was instrumental in developing a customised, contextualised and client focused on-site training program for Mount Isa Mines that received the Kinetic Group 2012 Training Award for Innovation.
