New short term unsecured loans for small business launching today

Small and micro businesses will be able to source fast funding similar to a buy now pay later solution thanks to Banjo Supply, a new digital loan launched today by Banjo Loans and InfraRisk.

The new loan product has been jointly developed by Banjo Loans, a leading fintech lender to SMEs and InfraRisk, a digital lending solutions specialist. Banjo Supply applies world’s best practice in automation, use of alternative, previously inaccessible data and AI driven risk models, to match the borrower’s immediate needs. Algorithms analyse daily financial data, to allow ongoing learning, innovation and a continually improved customer experience.

“Point-of-sale (POS) providers and industry participants have told us Banjo Supply is exactly the kind of short-term unsecured loan product that small and micro SME clients are crying out for,” said Guy Callaghan, CEO of Banjo Loans.

Banjo Supply loans can be funded within minutes and start from $5000. They are designed for small and micro businesses that need short-term working capital to:
• pay suppliers now
• batch up payments to multiple creditors
• potentially negotiate supplier discounts.

“This short-term unsecured loan will typically help small businesses who need to buy bulk product, or pay suppliers on delivery, but don’t have the cash in the bank right now,” explains Guy Callaghan.

“For example, a restaurant or small hotel could be preparing for a holiday weekend or big function, and wants to buy extra supplies. They can take out a Banjo Supply loan and pay for the bulk supplies up front, which could also attract a discount from the supplier. Once they offset the supplier discount against the interest on the short-term loan, they’re still ahead.”

Experienced business lender Banjo Loans has until now focused on companies with turnover $500k – $50m.

“Having provided thousands of loans to larger Australian SMEs over the past 6 years, we’re excited to enter the micro and small business sector with a product that’s designed to help them get back on their feet, and bolster the recovery of the Australian economy,” says Callaghan.

“We’re initially focusing on the hospitality and retail sectors, which have been hit hard by the outbreak of COVID-19 and in desperate need of working capital.”

Demonstrating its speed and simplicity for the borrower, the new Banjo Supply digital application form:
• fits on a single page
• takes less than 5 minutes to complete
• achieves funding in near real-time via the fast payment network.

The platform is already integrated with a number of data partners including ZiiCloud a hospitality and retail specialist, tapping into Point-of-Sale data, transaction data and taxation data, with customer consent. Banjo and InfraRisk expect to expand the data coverage reach extensively over the coming months.

Nicholas Davies, chief executive officer of InfraRisk, said, “InfraRisk’s customizable and modular digital lending solution, powered by big data analytics and AI technologies, enables a highly automated lending process that delivers the world’s best operational efficiency. The complete functionality is also readily replicable and transferrable with high efficiency and effectiveness.”

“Our go-to-market approach to this business sector is to target select proven industry verticals that are rich in alternative data. We want to provide a tailored lending product directly into their daily workflow and financial ecosystem.”

Small businesses have been one of the main driving forces of Australian economic development. Official data released by the Australian government shows the country’s SMEs create 44 per cent of jobs and contribute to 35 per cent of its domestic GDP. Research by East & Partners found out that the unmet credit demand among Australian SMEs had reached AUD$118.4 billion (USD$91.5 billion) by the end of 2019.

LINAK launches groundbreaking linear actuator pushing endurance to new limits

“When we look at current market needs, particularly in autonomous agriculture and industrial automation, we see a very clear need for an increase in the life expectancy of electric linear movements of up to 80,000-100,000 cycles,” says Soren Buck, business development manager at LINAK. “We’re also aware that there’s a growing demand for data for planning maintenance, diagnostics and status of the actuator,” he adds.

Designed by LINAK with these trends in mind, the new linear actuator LA36 Long Life delivers on both counts and more.

Setting higher standards: 20x longer lifetime for less outlay
Previously, when choosing an electric actuator for certain applications, it has been difficult to find a solution that both met full lifetime requirements while remaining affordable: There was a choice of specifying other more expensive technology, such as servo drives, or using an electric actuator that could not meet lifetime requirements – adding the cost of service and downtime to an application. Now, with the LA36 Long Life it is possible to achieve long-life confidence with less service and downtime.

“The new Long Life actuator has redefined the concept of longevity, having been tested to guarantee a minimum of 200,000 cycles at maximum load and maximum duty cycle. The worst thinkable conditions. This roughly extends its working life to around 20x that of conventional actuators on the market. The considerable increase is primarily due to the incorporation of a brushless motor which takes us to new heights in long-term reliability and performance,” says Buck.

A fresh approach to integration and installation
An integrated controller, and CANopen and J1939 interfaces ensure simple and quick integration. Furthermore, the new Long Life actuator comes with a choice of 24 V and 48 V motor options for a variety of demanding applications, including autonomous vehicles in material handling and agriculture. And for precision control, installing external sensors is a thing of the past. The LA36 Long Life provides full control without the need for additional components, including access to all the data required to make troubleshooting easy.

“Cutting down the costly time it takes our customers to integrate a solution has also played a part in the innovative design of our Long Life actuator. This plug-and-play solution with fewer components also means less costly service and downtime for application users. With our new Long Life actuator we make it possible to both drive down costs while adding to an application’s lifetime,” concludes Buck.

LINAK is a market leader in the production and application of electric linear actuators with some 40 years of experience and more than 30 subsidiaries worldwide.

TwinCAT IoT now also supports MindSphere

Beckhoff has offered diverse IoT communication capabilities with its TwinCAT IoT product family since 2015. Transmitting data to the cloud or between networked machines in this way creates enormous potential for increasing production efficiency. MindSphere, the Industrial IoT as a service solution from Siemens, is now one of the latest solutions that can also be integrated with TwinCAT.

TwinCAT 3 automation software can communicate with HTTP(S) servers as an HTTP(S) client, for example for exchanging data via a REST API. Establishing a connection with MindSphere is now also possible via this HTTPS communication for exchanging telemetry data. This connection is secured by TLS (Transport Layer Security) and additionally uses MindSphere – specific authentication mechanisms.

The sample implementations of the TwinCAT 3 Function TC3 IoT HTTPS/REST (TF6760) in the relevant documentation show how to establish connections with MindSphere. These examples provide a simple introduction to connecting TwinCAT with MindSphere and allow users to adapt the program code to suit individual requirements.

TwinCAT MTP: cyber-physical modularisation for the process industry

The Module Type Package (MTP) is a modern solution for modularising plants in the process industry. It defines an interface for easily orchestrating and connecting modules to a higher-level control system. With the new TwinCAT MTP, TwinCAT automation software from Beckhoff helps create MTP projects with automatic code generation, paving the way for efficient module development integrated into the TwinCAT Engineering Environment.

The MTP concept is based around intelligent modules with their own control system. It describes an interface between the module controller and the higher-level orchestration. This task can be handled by the so called Process Orchestration Layer (POL) which can be represented by for example a Distributed Control System (DCS). The MTP itself is a module description in the form of an archive file, which is exported from the module engineering and imported into the higher-level control system. It contains all information required for the POL to establish data exchange with the modules via the OPC UA communication standard.

TwinCAT MTP integrates the engineering of MTP-capable modules for processing plants directly into the familiar TwinCAT Engineering Environment. It offers the full range of options from module definition, import/export of an MTP to automatic code generation. This can be customised for specific users via multiple interfaces to enable extensive automated project planning. This new TwinCAT functionality minimises the required guideline expertise for users so that module developers can focus on the actual control logic.

The MTP concept is integrated into TwinCAT through the TwinCAT MTP Runtime and TwinCAT MTP Engineering products. The TwinCAT Engineering Environment includes a project management in which TwinCAT MTP Engineering is integrated as its own project type. The TwinCAT MTP Runtime consists of an IEC 61131-3 programming library, which is used by the generated code of the TwinCAT MTP Engineering to implement a directive-compliant interface. The function blocks described in this library ensure the representation via the OPC UA interface. As such, TwinCAT OPC UA enables the POL to access data in compliance with the VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658 guideline definition, sheets 1 to 4.
